The third day of Badger Boys State began with a lot of campaigning. Citizens who wanted to run for a state-level position needed 45 other citizens to sign their petition form in order to be eligible. Here, a student signs a form for a peer after finishing breakfast.
In their second day of schools of instruction, the citizens dove deeper into the material to gain hands-on knowledge and experience. Here, citizens in the leadership school broke into small groups and discussed what being a leader is all about and how they can use the knowledge to help them while at Badger Boys State and after they leave.
The citizens had another election today, this time voting on county-level positions. As they run for more positions and hear more speeches from their peers, the citizens are gaining more sense on what makes a good campaign speech and what qualifications are needed for every position. Here, Counselor Brian works with citizens to validate votes from the election.
Just like citizens who wanted to hold city-level positions had to attend a seminar about the real-life job they were running for, citizens who wanted to hold a county-level position also had to attend a seminar of the like. Here, citizens listen to a speech about what it means to keep the roads and highways safe.
Of course, the citizens were not too busy for recreation time. They were enjoying the sun by playing sports like softball, football, ultimate frisbee and others. Here, members from a volleyball team congregate for a picture after playing.
As the choir prepares for their concert coming up in toward the end of the week, they rehearsed with one of their accompanists, Counselor George, who is a professional jazz pianist and composer.
After dinner, the citizens broke up by party (nationalists and federalists) for the state party convention. At the convention, the parties developed their platforms and the candidates for state offices all gave a speech. Here, the citizens listen to a speech from one of the candidates for lieutenant governor.
